Did You Tune Into BAD25 On Thanksgiving?

gabbiebrown
gabbiebrown Nov 24, 2012

I spent my Thanksgiving evening tuning into Michael Jackson's Bad25 on ABC. Let's just say I watched it 3 times after it aired. Me and MJ go WAY back. Growing up as a dancer most of my routiines included some sort of hit from the moon walking man. Then in High School for a broadcast project, me and my friend remade 'Thriller'. Test me BUZZNET, I know every single MJ dance.

This was pretty much me during the whole program.

Anyways, I was just completely blown away by his impact on the music industry. Today's artist spend so much time trying to sound like what is popular now. Michael spent his time trying to take it to another level. He was always reinventing himself and raising the bar. He was writting on his mirror's the number of records he sold for motivation ( I need to start doing that).

I mean everything about him was ONE OF A KIND. His short films, dancing, vocal performance's,all unique to him. Uniqueness is something the music industry is lacking. Everyone is so concerned with what will sell, that they all eventually sound the same.

I could literally spend hours talking about this special.

Let Me Know If You Tuned In For #BAD25 In A Comment Below.

Things To Be Thankful For

gabbiebrown
gabbiebrown Nov 21, 2012

I have so much to be thankful for this year. So much has happened and I feel like I have grown into the person that I want to be. It's the little things in life that I'm thankful for. This may or may not include Sweet Tea. Here are 5 things I'm thankful for this year (Insert Cheesy Turkey hand)

Family/Friends: These little gem's have been here for me so much this year. I've grown so close with friends who don't even live in the same city as me. They put up with my late night texts and skype sesh about chapters in my life. You know who you are, thank you for being on standby when things in the sunny state didn't go as planned. You guys are always rooting for me, even when things are TOO BIG to accomplish.

Music Chats: I've gotten the chance to talk to some of my favorite people about music. Even covering 3 dates of Warped Tour (Dream Come True). Some stand out moments include an interview on The Used's tour bus talking about One Direction and Newsboys Frontmen Michael Tait. Which he told me I was going to go far as a music reporter (EEEEEP).

BUZZNET Readers: THANK YOU for reading every little post on my blog. I love reading your comments and tweets to me about how much you enjoyed each interview. You guys are die hard music fans like me and it's truly an honor to be considered a BUZZMAKER.

Airplanes: Airplanes have become my new best friend. Thankful for you allowing me to travel safely to friends and family. California, you hold a magical place in my heart. I hope we meet some more in 2013.

Carrie Bradshaw: Thankful for the little lessons I learn from each episode of Sex and The City. Carrie Bradshaw is my spirit animal. I like to consider myself the music verison of her. Taking over the world, One blog at a time. Always reminding me that friends are the best accessories a girl can ever have and it's OKAY to be married to your career.

Happy Thanksgiving Lovebugs, Be thankful for the little blessings in your life.

Life Update: We All Fall Down

gabbiebrown
gabbiebrown Nov 17, 2012

Hi Pals,

Ever have those times in your life when everything seems to be falling apart? I have been dealing with this a lot lately, more so than usual. I'm so thankful for everything that has been happening but sometimes you just hit a road block. I've been trying to plan my next move in life in general. I'm trying to figure out if moving out of state will benefit me or where my little feet should travel next. It's been sooooo stressful and it's taking a tole on my body and brain.

I've been doubting myself, I'am my hardess critic. I work really hard to be orginal and creative and to be a postive influence in people's life. I want nothing more in life than to show everyone that I could do. Not many people know this (Well now you all know) but my biggest fear is not being taken serious. I have nightmares about this. Rejection does a number on your self esteem. It seems like I get so close and then everything just shuts down and falls a part.

Thoughts At The Moment

  • Chasing My Career Is More Important Then Boys, Right? Let's go back to the night of the 7th on Vine Street
  • Next Step Includes? WORLD DOMINATION
  • Coffee makes a great companion.
  • How does one sucessfully make their parents proud?

Luckily the new Aerosmith song, "We All Fall Down' reminded me of so much. . It couldn't come at a more perfect point in my life. When all of this happens we tend to feel alone. Like we're the only ones going through this. Steven Tyler saying ' We All Fall Down' is almost calming to my soul.

Everyone breaks
We all get hurt sometimes
In this life
Fly so high
Crash and burn sometimes
And I want you to know
You are not alone
We all fall down.

I'm seeing Aerosmith this sunday, and Cheap trick. Cheap Trick was the first band I ever saw when I was six. It's like I've come full circle with music.

Remember to Keep your head held high, Smile on the face, EPIC SHOES and you can conquer the world.

Music's Fab Four: Who You Should Be Checking Out In The Music World

gabbiebrown
gabbiebrown Nov 09, 2012

I'm constanly searching for new music and sometimes friends send some my way and other times i struck gold on twitter. This month's fab 4 includes a sister duo, a blonde soulful singer, hunky electro pop gents and a pop rock band that will make you swoon!

Dara Maclean: She's currently working on a new album, but I felll in love with 'You got my attention' while out on Winter Jam. 'Free' and 'Nothing You Won't Do' keep me feeling refreashed in the mornings and humming along all day.

Capital Kings: You've might of seen their remixs floating around the internet. This electropop group is making a name for themselves with their 'I Feel So Alive' Ep. Grab your girlfriends and some dancing shoes and you're set for the ultimate slumber party.

Ruby Summer: My favorite mermaids! Ruby and Summer are not only super stylish (Ladies, let's play dress up together) but INCREDIBLY TALENTED. 'Mermaids and Poets' and 'French Kisses' are the songs you've been searching for your whole life. You just want to pack your bags and head to the beach!

Belmont Lights: A good friend of mine tweeted about this group a while back and I instantly googled them. I secretly wish 'Halfway' was written about me (SWOOON). 'Too Close' is another personal favorite!

Go ahead and stalk these lovely people on all those good sites. I'm sure you'll be bumping their tunes for the next couple of months!

What Movie Character Are You?

gabbiebrown
gabbiebrown Oct 20, 2012

If we were to go and get coffee you would probably find out fast that, my ALL TIME favorite movie is, Almost Famous. I kid you not, singing 'Tiny Dancer' on a bus full of musicans is on my bucket list (Still waiting to cross that one off). Everything I know I learned from Miss Penny Lane.  I tend to see a lot of myself in her. The way she acts, dresses and comes across to people. Remember to enjoy the moment but don't think anything of it after. It's always about the music for her and that's how it is for me.

" I always tell the girls, never take it seriously, if ya never take it seriosuly, ya never get hurt, ya never get hurt, ya always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends."

" We are here because of the music, we inspire the music. We are Band Aids"

"Famous people are just more interesting."

Thanks to my pals at Pelican Merch For Sending Me This Almost Famous Tee! They've given me a coupon code so you can get FREE SHIPPING on the shirt I wore! (AMAZING DEAL). Just Type BUZZNETGABBIE at checkout!

So great to hear and see new stuff from one of my favorite bands, Aerosmith. It's been 11 years since we've gotten new material out of the bad boys from Boston. 'What Could Have Been Love' is the newest video and reminds us that, true talent never dies. Music From Another Dimension is the groups 15th record and drops Nov 6. I can't wait to see what else they bring to the table.

Do You Think The Guys Of Aersomith Still Have What It Takes?
